Hey guys! I read quite a lot, and I thought, why not share some books I’ve read lately?
We All Fall Down – Robert Cormier
We All Fall Down is about Jane, who’s house got trashed, Buddy, one of the trashers, and The Avenger, who is planning to avenge Jane and the house. What keeps this book so interesting is that it is not only written from, for example, Jane’s perspective, but also from Buddy’s and The Avenger’s. What also kept me reading was: what will the next move of the avenger be? And ofcourse I was dying to know who the avenger was… when you find out, you’ll be surprised. Towards the ending, there’s a big plot twist about the avenger. I think this was a very good book!
Eleanor & Park – Rainbow Rowell
Eleanor, her mom and her little brothers and sisters, just moved in with their new stepfather. They live in a small apartement with a bathroom attached to the kitchen. Eleanor’s life isn’t nice; just like her stepdad. Park is a rich boy who lives with his mom, dad, and brother in a nice house. Eleanor and Park meet each other on the bus to school. At first, they dislike each other, but as they are forced to sit next to each other on the bus everyday, they start to like each other. A strange relationship betweenthe two begins. Mixed with the problems the two of them have at home, this a nice roman to read. And though it sounds like the typical high-school love-roman, I can assure you; it’s not.
The Divergent series – Veronica Roth
I read the divergent series, containing Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant, a while ago. I’m sure you’ve heard about it; many people have read the books and there’s already a movie about the first book. I LOVED the books, each and every one of them. They’re about Tris (Beatrice Prior, 16 y.o.), who lives in futuristic Chicago. Chicago is devided in 5 different factions. Based on your personality, you should only belong to ONE faction. But some people belong to more than one faction… those people are called “Divergent” and are being hunted by the leaders of the factions – they could be a danger to the system. The three books are about the war between the factions & the hunt on the divergent. And Tris, Four and their friends are in the middle of it. The last book is not only written from Tris’ perspective, but also from Four’s. Some people didn’t like that; but I kinda did. It added more perspective on what’s happening, as Tris and Four do not always agree with eachother on those things. Books about war, love, friendship and finding out who you really are – I loved the divergent series.
